Leadership Training

In the fall of 2019, Center director Alvin Tillery approached the Dean of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, Adrian Randolph, with a vision to transform the Center for the Study of Diversity and Democracy into a major hub for leadership education on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The first step in that plan was to build a certificate program based around a robust set of online offerings with our corporate partner 2U/GetSmarter, Inc. The first course, “Leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” launched in October 2020.

This online short course is for business leaders interested in practical, proven tools and methods for enacting change in the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within their organization. Recognizing the business imperative for these values, this course will help you create actionable strategies and offer guidance to lead and manage DEI initiatives, as well as gain the awareness and sensitivity to remove structural and social barriers in your organization as you develop teams and leadership in your workforce that reflect the diversity of consumers.

To learn more about this course offering, you can view the course description from the Weinberg College's website. For more information on enrollment and partnerships for corporate training, please visit the GetSmarter, Inc. webpage for the course listing.
